Mechanic

A woman dies in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. The devastated husband buys the totalled car and spends the next 4 years rebuilding it. His family and friends don't understand why he is doing it. When he he finally done it is exactly like it was the day she died. He drives it out of town and finds the drunk driver running him over. He then drives his car over to the river to kill himself but sees that a woman is already drowning. He drives into the river getting out and saving her. The car and all evidence is washed downstream forever and he is able to fall in love and move on
